Jack Walsh (R)

Vote WA Candidate Profile

Party: Republican

Elected Experience:
Walsh twice led successful advisory vote campaigns to keep retail pot shops out of Federal Way.

Other Professional Experience:

His business has employed more than 100 teenagers over the last nine years. For most, it was their first job and introduction into the working world.

Education:
A 35-year resident of Federal Way and small business owner, Walsh and his wife, Judy, are parents of five children and seven grandchildren. A former newspaper reporter and editor, Walsh holds a BA in Communications.

Community Service:
Walsh demonstrates his love for the community through years of volunteer service and serves on the Federal Way Human Services Commission.

Statement:

Seattle’s influence over Olympia has caused unequal and unjust taxes on our families and small businesses—this has to stop. In spite of a revenue surplus, our current leadership adopted over $25 Billion in new taxes in the last budget. Now major budget shortfalls are projected. I’m running because I fear their next step will be an income tax.

I have the small business experience to help get the economy rolling again. My other priorities include combating our homeless crisis, creating affordable housing solutions, ensuring we have equitable education funding options, and holding Sound Transit accountable to our taxpayers.

Party: Republican

Elected Experience:
None; have 44 years of political/electoral experience.

Other Professional Experience:
Decades as a Legal Assistant; Marine Corps Corporal, 1972 – 1974 (Honorable Discharge).

Education:
Inver Hills Community College, Minnesota, Legal Assistant Program (AAS).

Community Service:
Still trying to reverse “Roe v. Wade,” this era’s “Dred Scott” (would make adoption easier for moms giving up newborns). As someone who needs to attract Democrats as well as Independents and Republicans, I’ve championed Social Security, populism, and have developed an offshoot of the environmentally-conscience 1980’s Citizen Party. Since 2004, running the Commoner Local Affairs Committee, whose motto is “Vote for who you want, not who you’re suppose to.”

Statement:
If anything has shown the Radical Democrats’ hand, it was their lowering the penalty of intentionally transmitting a communicable disease from felony to misdemeanor (the appointed position 2 incumbent agreed). Their penchant for not balancing off privileges that they give away worldwide, thereby riding roughshod over citizens’ rights, will lead to, in Oct., 2020, standard driver’s licenses being inadmissible for airplane travel, etc.

I’ll need the support of classical Democrats, too, for victory. Know that I’m for Teddy Roosevelt-style environmentalism and trust-busting, social conservatism and Bill of Rights. Unlike some politicians, I actually try to accomplish said goals.
